A window sticker is a mandatory label displayed on all new vehicles in the U.S., providing essential details such as the manufacturer, features, optional equipment, and available packages. It is usually placed on the driver’s side window or windshield.
The Automobile Information Disclosure Act of 1958, introduced by Oklahoma Senator Mike Monroney, led to its adoption. In May 2011, the NHTSA and EPA updated the requirements, requiring all 2013 and newer models to display estimated fuel or electricity consumption per 100 miles. This revision is especially significant for electric, plug-in hybrid, hydrogen fuel cell, flexible-fuel, and natural gas vehicles produced in the U.S.
